EDIFICE BRACKET

Architecture that belongs to its place

Sep 4, 2026

At Edifice Bracket, we design with place in mind responding to climate, landscape, context and patterns of living to create architecture that feels naturally connected to its surroundings.

Every building begins with a place. Its climate, landscape, culture, surroundings and natural conditions provide a unique set of opportunities and constraints that can shape the architecture from the very beginning.

Rather than imposing a predetermined design onto every site, contextual architecture begins by understanding what already exists. The direction of the sun, prevailing winds, existing vegetation, views, topography and surrounding buildings can all influence how a building should be positioned and experienced.

Climate is particularly important. In warm and humid environments, shaded spaces, cross ventilation, courtyards and carefully controlled openings can improve comfort while reducing dependence on mechanical systems. Architecture can work with the environment rather than constantly trying to overcome it.

The relationship between a building and its landscape is equally significant. Gardens, courtyards, terraces and shaded outdoor spaces can extend the usable area of a building while creating softer transitions between interior and exterior.

Context also extends beyond physical conditions. Local materials, construction traditions and patterns of living can provide valuable references without requiring architecture to become overly literal or nostalgic.

At Edifice Bracket, we believe contemporary architecture can be both distinctive and deeply connected to its surroundings. By responding carefully to each site’s specific qualities, we create buildings that feel appropriate to their location rather than simply placed upon it.

The result is architecture with a stronger sense of belonging buildings that respond to their environment while establishing their own identity.
